This book is such a gripping read. It makes a reader go throughout a wide range of emotions. It has all the elements to make a great book. Humor, suspense, fear, sadness, and it has such a bittersweet feel. It takes place post apocalypse and it makes a person think what would last few be like after the coming of Jesus. I loved Mikayla. She is such an awesome character. A strong woman with such hope and strength. She never gave up,fighting for what she wanted. Then there's our hero Mitch. He's definitely sigh worthy. Loyal, strong, protective, genuine, and a REAL hero. The secondary character were just as wonderful. Claire, Austin, Holly, and even the villains were perfectly written. Samantha Christy did a great job with this book. The only thing I had trouble with were the f words, and the Lord's name taken in vain. I know and understand this is an adult novel and not a Christian fiction novel, but I my humble honest opinion it did not need those things/words to make it a better book than it already is.

Love the writing from start to finish. The storyline was a tad predictable but definitely still a good read. Enjoy!
I really liked this. I wished there were more out there like it. The scorched road series is excellent. Haven’t found any others that I’ve liked.
Did not expect such a wonderful, suspenseful, interesting drama that I couldn't stop reading! First time reading this author's book, and I will definitely be reading more of this author's work. Loved the surprise, very heartfelt, wonderful, passionate love scenes. Would have liked a series of how other couples we're living, and who hooked up with who. Great read.
I read and enjoyed both trilogies by Ms. Christy. This novel seemed to drag on and seemed disjointed. I almost gave up on it. If it were a paperback, I would have gone to the end of the book to say I finished it. I do not recommend this book.
I really enjoyed this book and could put it down. It is an easy read with a good little twist. The author created a lot of empathy for the characters without being sappy or overly predictable.
First of all the book was written well without grammatical mistakes. Then there is a great love story, along with concerns of lost loved ones due to an EMP causing an almost worldwide blackout of everything electrical. And there is a HEA for all the parties. Has lots of hope for life.
I really loved this book! I love apocalyptic stories to begin with, especially when romance is at the heart of it. This one was different - there are no zombies. This catastrophe is based on an EMP pulse, so all electronics have failed. It's about humanity getting back to the basics (without electronics) and surviving in small pockets. It's a book about second chances and starting over. The book focuses on the people in a small Florida Army base, and particularly the life and romance of a young doctor there, Mikayla. Mikayla is a great character, and her love interest is wonderful. I enjoyed this book immensely and didn't want it to end. Samantha Christy has a wonderful writing style, very fluid and engaging. I've loved all of her books.
