Confessions of a Virgin Sex Columnist! Volume 1 Kay Marie 9781511931748 Books
When Skye gets a promotion at the newspaper she works for, she couldn't be happier. But it also means that she has to confess to her best friend Bridget. She has to tell her that she is a VIRGIN! How can she write a sex column if she has never had sex herself? After calming herself from a panic attack on the way home from work, she decides to confess all to her friend. Well she thinks that she is talking to Bridget. Nope! The noises she heard coming from the kitchen weren't coming from her best friend, it was Bridget's older brother Oliver "Ollie" that just heard her confess that she was a virgin, and a sex columnist!
Skye has been in love with Ollie since she was five years old. And has been avoiding him for the last four years, after something that happened between them (which we get told about later in the book). Ollie is the worst person she could have confessed to. Besides being drop dead gorgeous and having eyes that will melt your heart, he's mischievous, likes to antagonize and loves pushing Skye's buttons and forcing her out of her comfort zone.
What follows is a very enjoyable romantic comedy.
My first impression of Skylar "Skye" Quinn was that she was "mousy". She's quiet, clueless, naive and suffers from panic and anxiety attacks. But she's extremely likable, and very easy to relate to and connect with.
I empathized with Skye's character and the situations she found herself in, but I also wanted to shake some sense into her! The naivety began to grate on my nerves, but I also can't picture Skye being any other way. I just couldn't believe that one twenty-two year old could be so clumsy!
Ollie was to die for! He was protective and concerned and as much as he teased his sister and Skye, you could tell that it was all in fun and he felt nothing but affection for his sister and her best friend. Over the course of the story that affection grew towards Skye.
I really enjoyed Confessions of a Virgin Sex Columnist! It was a sweet lighthearted read that had me laughing, made me angry and totally wiped away my anger with "awe (or awwww)" moments. It does end on with a cliffhanger that sets us up for the next installment in the Confessions series, and although you are left with some questions in your mind, this book feels complete. In all honesty, the ending kind of felt like a punch in the face. Didn't see that coming at all and it's going to make an interesting next book!
I look forward to reading more of this series!

Confessions of a Virgin Sex Columnist! Volume 1 Kay Marie 9781511931748 Books Reviews
Fantastic!!! The book was engaging and funny. I absolutely loved reading it. I read over half of it in one sitting. It's that good. Unlike a lot of books like this, you don't find the character in seemingly unrealistic situation after unrealistic situation. It's believable, funny, and Skye is so relatable. I related to her more than I wanted to admit to initially (I'm a fellow Belle). I loved the characters so much and I have deigned Blythe my arch nemesis in a book. It's so wonderful I'm immediately getting the next book to read it.
Looking for job as journalist Skyler Quinn finds a sex columnist job. That is perfect she wants to write and she want to work at that magazine. But what is wrong here? Nothing except she is a virgin and she suppose to write about sex. She lives in New York with her best friend Bridget. They are together since they are babies, three of them. Three? Yes there was Bridget‘s older brother Oliver. When they goes to college they are become two of them.
Sky has a big secret. No one knows that she is a virgin except all of you. She desperate needs to tell her secret to Bridget and to ask her for help with that column. But when she get home something went wrong.
I was captivated by the title of this book, it’s so intriguing. But I must tell you that there in the book it’s very little of that sex column stuff. I was expected that the author will be concentrate on that with the column, how Skyler manage to write it and from where she get help, but that is just mentioned by the way not elaborated. The author’s attention is to describe how Skyler manage to live with her unfulfilled love and how she lives with her big secret. It’s not bad at all. The story keeps me reading, which is expected because I was curious to find what Skyler will do, how she will survived after revealing the secret and how her love life will be in the end.
Skyler is great girl in her twenties and somehow she is virgin. She keeps that in secret, but when she spokes that loud that become a mistake. She gets on my nerves with that Ollie stuff Ollie this, Ollie that. She has that great opportunity to finds love, she doesn’t grub it, but in the end everything goes like suppose to be.
Bridget is funny girl, she doesn’t thing just react and that gives to the situation funny end. She is friend that everyone supposes to have.
Bridget’s brother Oliver is careless man. I start to like him right the way he shows up in the book. I don’t like the things how it seems that are, but there deep in the book I realized why he does, what he does.
I recommend this book to everyone who loves light and funny, romantic books.
This book was bought from .
I can say only one thing Best Romantic Comedy Ever. A real genuine romantic comedy, not one filled with sex, swearing and forced laughs. I think it has been years since I laughed that much reading a book. I fell in love with Ollie, with Bridget and with Skye.
They are lovable, wonderful characters and the author has a real talent. She succeeds to convey all kinds of sentiments, - humor, tenderness, angst - with elegance.
I don’t see any resemblance to Emily Giffin, maybe some similarity with Sophie Kinsella, but Kay Marie has her own voice and believe me her voice is the best I read in the romantic comedy genre.
As other mentioned the book ends with a cliffhanger but if you ask me, it's not really one, just a chance to have a little more fun with Ollie and Skye. I’m so looking forward to the next installment.
So I wholeheartedly recommend this book to anyone who likes funny, genuine romantic comedies.
